The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a public, state-supported research university. The largest university in the Chicago area, UIC is the Chicago campus of the University of Illinois system. Currently, UIC enrolls approximately 27,000 students in its 15 academic and professional colleges and the College of Medicine, the largest in the US. Located in the busy West Loop area of the city, easily accessible to downtown, UIC is next to Chicago’s commercial, entertainment and social hub. Nearby campus and the commercial section of the city, students and scholars can enjoy miles of parks, beaches, and bike trails as a respite from the demands of study and research.
